Edifier M60 Multimedia Speaker Overview

The full review

How the Edifier M60 Multimedia Speaker performs, point by point

The details that matter when you're deciding — tested in our room, explained in plain language.

01

Design and desk presence

The Edifier M60 looks like it was designed by someone who actually keeps a small desk setup and hates clutter. It’s compact, clean, and a lot more grown-up than the usual plasticky multimedia speaker fare, so it doesn’t scream for attention next to a turntable, laptop, or monitor.

I also like that it feels like a proper part of the room instead of a cheap add-on. The finish and proportions make it easy to live with, and it has that “small but intentional” vibe that works well in a home office, bedroom, or compact listening space.

02

Sound quality for everyday listening

What stood out to me most was how easy the M60 is to listen to for long stretches. It has a clean, tidy presentation that makes vocals and dialogue easy to follow, and it doesn’t come across as thin or harsh in the way a lot of small desktop speakers do.

I wouldn’t call it a big, room-filling system, and I wouldn’t buy it expecting serious low-end slam. But for nearfield listening, casual music, and streaming from a desk, it does a good job of sounding balanced and composed rather than trying to fake scale it doesn’t have.

It’s the kind of speaker that rewards sensible placement. Get it on a desk, keep it aimed properly, and it opens up nicely; shove it in a bad corner and, like most compact speakers, it loses some of what makes it appealing.

03

Connectivity and source flexibility

The M60 makes sense if you want a speaker that can handle more than one source without turning your desk into a cable mess. That flexibility matters a lot here, because this is the sort of product people buy to sit between a computer, a streamer, and maybe a turntable or TV setup.

I appreciate that it doesn’t feel locked into one narrow use case. It’s easy to imagine it living in a setup where you bounce between music, videos, and general desktop audio all day, which is exactly the kind of real-world use these speakers are built for.

04

Setup and day-to-day convenience

Setup is refreshingly straightforward, which is exactly what I want from a compact powered speaker system. I don’t want to spend an afternoon decoding a manual just to get sound out of my desk, and the M60 keeps the process simple enough that it feels approachable right away.

Day to day, it’s the kind of speaker you stop thinking about in a good way. Once it’s in place, it just becomes part of the routine, and that’s a bigger compliment than it sounds like for a desktop audio product.

05

Who it fits best

I think the M60 makes the most sense for someone who wants a neat, good-looking speaker for close-up listening and doesn’t need a giant system to shake the room. It’s a strong fit for a desk, a small apartment, or a second setup where convenience and tidy design matter as much as sound.

If you’re chasing the kind of bass weight and scale that makes a big pair of speakers feel like a proper stereo rig, this probably isn’t the endgame. But if you want something compact, easy to live with, and genuinely pleasant for everyday use, the M60 lands in a very sensible place.
