KLH Kendall 2F Floorstanding Speaker Overview

The full review

How the KLH Kendall 2F Floorstanding Speaker performs, point by point

The details that matter when you're deciding — tested in our room, explained in plain language.

01

Sound and tonal balance

What stood out to me first with the KLH Kendall 2F was how easy it was to listen to for long stretches. It has that kind of balanced, slightly laid-back presentation that lets records breathe without turning everything into a hi-fi demo.

I didn’t hear it trying to impress with fake fireworks up top or bloated bass down low. Instead, it stayed composed and even-handed, which is exactly what I want from a floorstander I’m going to live with in a real room.

It does a nice job keeping vocals centered and natural, and I found that guitars and pianos had a believable weight to them. The speaker seems happiest when it’s asked to sound musical first and analytical second.

02

Low-end performance and room fill

The bass here is more about control and usefulness than sheer slam, and I appreciate that. It gives kick drums and bass lines enough body to feel complete, but it doesn’t wander into the kind of loose, overripe low end that can make a room sound muddy.

In my room, it filled space confidently without needing to be pushed hard. I could feel the scale of a full-sized floorstanding speaker, but it still stayed tidy enough that I wasn’t constantly thinking about placement or boom.

If you want chest-thumping bass without a sub, this probably isn’t the speaker I’d point you toward first. But if you want bass that supports the music instead of taking over the whole show, the Kendall 2F makes a pretty strong case.

03

Midrange clarity and vocal realism

This is where I think the Kendall 2F does a lot of its best work. Voices come through with good shape and presence, and I never felt like the midrange was being hollowed out just to make the speaker sound “open.”

With acoustic records and older pressings, it had enough honesty to show what was on the record without making every flaw feel like a crisis. That matters to me, because I want a speaker that flatters the music a little but still tells the truth.

I also liked how it handled dense mixes. It kept instruments separated well enough that I could follow what was going on, but it didn’t turn the presentation into something clinical or overly dissected.

04

Treble, detail, and long-term listening

The top end is smooth enough that I never found myself wincing at cymbals or bright mastering. That’s a big deal in my house, because a speaker can be technically detailed and still become exhausting after an hour or two.

The Kendall 2F leans more toward easy detail than spotlight detail, which I think is the right move for a speaker in this lane. I could hear texture and air, but it didn’t shove every little bit of information into my face.

That makes it a strong choice for people who actually sit and listen for a while instead of just auditioning gear for five minutes. It’s the kind of speaker that encourages one more side, which is usually a good sign.

05

Build, placement, and everyday living

Visually, it has a clean, traditional floorstanding-speaker look that feels comfortable in a normal living space. It doesn’t scream for attention, and I think that’s a plus if you want something substantial without turning your room into a showroom.

In terms of day-to-day use, I found it pretty straightforward to live with. It seems forgiving enough to work in a typical setup, which matters more to me than chasing some idealized, perfectly treated-room result.

What I like most is that it feels like a speaker made for actual ownership, not just a spec-sheet audition. It’s the kind of gear that should slot into a system, disappear into the room, and just keep doing its job without drama.
