The big practical selling point is the 8-inch woofer. On paper, that suggests better fullness than many compact ceiling speakers, and in practice it helps fill a room.
The 2-way design matters too. The woofer handles the lower range, while the tweeter helps vocals, horns, and percussion keep some bite.
Still, specs don't erase placement. An 8-inch in-ceiling speaker can spread music nicely, but it can't fix the fact that the sound is coming from above.
Turntable setup fit
The signal chain is simple once you see it: turntable, phono preamp if needed, stereo receiver or amplifier, speaker wire, then the PDIC86.
Because this is a passive speaker design, it won't make sound from a turntable alone.
A common real-world setup is an Audio-Technica deck with a built-in phono preamp feeding a stereo receiver, then the receiver powering the ceiling pair.
